Fortress in Leiden
Fortress in Leiden (NL: Burcht van Leiden) lies on a hill located in the city center 15 minutes walk away from Leiden central station. It was started to build at the beginning of 9 century and completed after 300 years. From the top of the fortress with its 6 meters hight, you can have a panoramic view of Leiden.

The birthplace of Rembrandt
Rembrandt, one of well-known artist, was born in Leiden, 1606. He had lived there until he moved to Amsterdam in 1631. Although the house where Rembrandt used to live doesn’t exist, still there is the trace of it as Rembrandtpark. Next to this park, there is a plate showing the birthplace of Rembrandt, and his statue of his early days facing canvas.
Hortus Botanicus
Hortus Botanicus is one of the most oldest botanical garden in the world. The most remarkable part of it is tropical plants. When you are there, you will feel as if you were in a real jungle.
